Team Shirt Redesign and I Talk Too Much

Team shirt 2011
My calendar is suffering from a bit of a schedule binge and is feeling a little bloated. Brimming with events and obligations lately, I've been attending MTB races with my boys, coordinating bike trips to the waterpark and friends houses, squeezing in time to work on my latest t-shirt designs, attending a memorial for my cousin, a board meeting and a podcast interview. That last one was a totally fun, but unexpected to-do item, but more on that later.

I finally completely our 2011 team shirts for our upcoming races this season. I removed yoga lady and replaced her with bike lady. Although I still love Yoga it has now taken a backseat to my running, biking and kayaking. And since those are the legs of our fun triathalon event this year I thought it would be more appropriate. The front of my shirt will reflect my love for barefoot running (and a love of bad puns) with a new BFR logo representing the wing concept and "fiyah" ideas combined.

I've also been hard at work on some other shirt designs, but like I said, things have been really busy and I haven't had the bandwidth to post my giveaway yet. I will have a few designs to post soon, though, I promise! And when I do the giveaway I'm thinking about giving my followers the option to pick the design they want. I'm getting really close. I will target doing this giveaway towards the beginning of July. But, for now, you'll just have to hang and wait.

So in and amongst all this crazy running around I've been doing (stupid pun intended), I had the amazing opportunity to speak to Caity McCardell about my experiences as a barefoot runner. She is the founder of the Run Barefoot Girl podcast and website. The motivation behind her podcasts is to to celebrate women in the sport of barefoot and minimal running. These podcast interviews aren't just inspirational, they're informative and fun as well. Each woman she interviews comes into the sport with unique backgrounds and experiences. I've listened to each podcast she has produced and have really enjoyed the stories and personal experiences of each of her interviewees. I was shocked that she wanted to interview me! Though, I'm afraid I may have sounded a bit like one of those elderly aunts who lives on her own and doesn't talk to anyone but her plants. You know? The aunt that as soon as she comes in contact with a real live human being vomits rambling conversation all over you and doesn't let you to get a word in edgewise. Yeah. I think I talked too much. I can do that sometimes. Hey. Its passion. So, if you're at all interested in listening to a tortuously chatty interview about stuff you probably already know about via this blog you'll be able to check it out sometime next week. I will be in episode #7.

And since tomorrow is Father's Day (and another fun and busy day in my schedule) I wanted to wish all the daddies a happy day with lots of hugs and lovins' from your kids. Enjoy and embrace the day. Being a dad is an amazing and incredible challenge as you all know. Not a job for the weak of heart, but definitely one for those with big hearts.

  1. Hey, there's so much about this post that is awesome... and I *so* enjoyed our interview... but what really strikes me is your memorial for your cousin. Maybe I missed that blog post(s), but I just want to acknowledge that the memorial must have been difficult. I'm so sorry to hear that you lost a family member. :(

  2. Thanks Caity... things have been a bit tough in our family lately. I had two cousins that were suffering from cancer. Both of them young. The oldest of them passed away recently of cervical cancer (she was around 52) and my younger cousin is still vehemently fighting breast cancer. The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure I did completely barefoot was in honor of my youngest cousin's fight although I thought a lot about both of them during that race. It sure puts things in perspective.
