New Barefoot Running Tees!

A collaborative effort
Since my surgery on Tuesday I've had lots of time to sit around on my ass. Yup. Doctor's orders. Recovery from my biopsy has been good. I'm surprised the pain from this surgery was less than the pain from the needle biopsy I got on my right breast several weeks ago. The only pain I get now originates either from gravity (the pulling on my sutures when I'm standing or stretching) or when I get cold (Um. Yeah. That would be the "shrinkage" issue. The sutures are all along the edge of my nipple. Ow.) So needless to say, sitting on my ass does me good these days. I've had time to work on some designs.

I contacted Spreadshirt.com a couple months back to see if they wouldn't mind spotting me a free shirt for a giveaway. I got a message from their customer service rep saying that my email would be forwarded to the marketing department and if they were interested in helping a girl out they would be in contact with me. The whole "don't call us, we'll call you" deal is what they fed me. Yeah. That's so not cool. In the meantime, I still had my design fiyah! on and needed an outlet. Luckily, Angie Bee contacted me about the International Barefoot Running Day contest over at Barefoot Runner's Society. She had a really cool concept that she needed help executing so I pitched in the production end of it. The design turned out really cool but didn't quite get enough votes. Oh well.

So even though our design did not get picked for the "official" tshirt design of the BRS's International Running Day, which, by the way, is on May 1st, 2011... GET OUT THERE AND RUN! This design did:
Not bad at all if you ask me. Nice clean design and works well on a shirt. This shirt is available on the BRS's website if you're interested in purchasing the real "Official" shirt for I.B.R.D. But, if you want to be somewhat of a rebel and buy the "runner up" design, otherwise known as the "first loser" design check out my store at Zap's Threads.

The totally awesome first loser design

I've also added one more barefoot running shirt to my shop. I call it my Barefoot Badass Tee. This design might get a few odd looks. It reflects a bit of my bizarre sense of humor, so if you don't get it I won't be offended. The design itself is a double concept. The graphic shows just how tough barefoot runners are. Hence the darts and target idea. But the underlying and more subtle concept is a personal one. I'm always stepping on the sharp and jabby things in the same spot. My biggest magnet spot seems to be on the outside of my foot right below my little toe. This is worth the most points. There's a few options for colors and styles of all my shirts so if you want one feel free to peruse the shop a bit. Also, if you have any specific requests for style and color feel free to ask. Although I can't guarantee anything, I will see what I can do to help my fellow barefoot runners out.

In the meantime I haven't given up on a giveaway. I will be nagging Spreadshirt again and may be able to finagle a giveaway on my own. Keep your eyes peeled for more BFR tee designs in the future. I'll keep you posted.

  6. Hope your results come back with nothing to worry about, I wasn't sure whether to use the term positive or negative as they may have reverse connotations.
Stay positive and keep padding along the pavements, that always makes you feel better after you get back. Great t-shirt designs by the way.

  8. Rob - thanks so much for the referral! Have you used Printfection.com before? My rule of thumb has been to buy a tshirt from them first so that I can see if the quality of the printing meets my approval. But, if someone else has used them and can recommend their product I would be more than happy to try them out!
