BFR Shirt Giveaway - Lucky Number 6

So there were 17 of you who were down for a free shirt giveaway and it looks like lucky number 6 got it thanks to this totally random number generator. Congrats Chris! I've already shot you an email so I can hook you up. Keep your eyes peeled for that. And yes. It was an excellent ploy, wasn't it?

If you were a loser this time, hang tight. I plan on doing another giveaway if I can finagle a free shirt out of Spreadshirt.com. I was impressed with their quality of shirts (I made one for my son's birthday) and they have options to print vector formats with different techniques like flex printing. But now I'm just going all geeky designer on y'all. Suffice it to say they have a variety of options with printing, which is good. And if you're wondering how you can get your hands on a BFR Fiyah! shirt now, I've set up shop over at Spreadshirt (Zaps Threads). As of right now, I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my very own BFR Fiyah! in red.

As for my barefoot running... well, actually, I haven't been doing much of that lately as I've been taking a little break to see if I can recover from some of my knee and achilles issues. Its been about three weeks since my last barefoot run and I'm really missing it.

I've started doing some mobility WODs over at Kelly Starrett's blog, which has made me realize that I'm a serious knotted and tight mess. Actually, I've noticed this for a long time now, I just never knew how to handle it. Well, the way I handled it wasn't exactly the most effective. I got a massage. Not the normal kind of massage you're thinking about. This massage is also known as a mama beat down. Check out this video. Hmmmmm. Maybe this is the reason I'm a tight mess.

So, I'm planning on meeting with the guy who introduced me to forefoot running. He's going to work with me on a number of things including dialing my barefoot running back in. I'm really looking forward to getting some things sorted with my fitness. I really need this. I think it will be really good for me.

  2. Nothing like an injury to help you focus on what your goals really are. You always come out stronger on the other end!

  3. Hey, you are probably a slow learner like me when it comes to this running thing.
I reckon it has taken me 15 months to finally say 'I think I get it'
I'd always get irritated by these people who post about getting into barefoot running a few weeks ago and are now doing their first marathon, I never found it that easy.
I find it good when I check my blog diary to see where I was a year ago so I can see that hey, I have progressed leaps and bounds, it's just that it seems that you are not progressing.
I reckon it's taken me so long to change because I ran the wrong way for 30 years and 30 years leaves a strong impression in your brain. So 2 years to change is a small percentage of my running career.
    Keep it up.

  5. Got the shirt yesterday - many thanks. It looks great! It'll be a few weeks before I'm wearing it outside though as it is supposed to stay well below freezing for a long while yet.
